Evaluate Capstone

Assessments and Data are an essential part of a successful online classroom. Without assessments, teachers would have no idea how well their students are progressing through a course until the student takes a test. This simply would not be acceptable. Data can provide information as to why a student is performing at a specific level. Formative assessments allow teachers to see learning almost as it happens, and/or to determine whether the student is on the right path. A summative assessment should reflect formative assessment scores without surprising either the teacher or the student. There are different ways of reaching a goal and the online teacher is there to assist students in performing their best. This might require remediation or the extending an assignment. It might require reteaching. It might require meeting with a student and parent to discuss participation or how to get around the course. Online teaching and learning can be far more successful through data-driven instruction.
