Here is the link to my mock weather course: https://sites.google.com/site/digitallearning132/atmosphere. The atmosphere page is the page I completed for this course assignment, but there are a few other pages containing content on other weather topics. I placed two images of atmospheric layers at the top of the page showing the layers to provide a visual clue as to what the lesson content is about. The assignment for students is to use the atmosphere chart I created to gather information create an infographic on the atmosphere using www.easel.ly. A rubric is included for students to use before, during and after working on the assignment. The atmosphere chart is to be shared with the instructor for feedback prior to working on the final product. A video by the BBC provides motivation for students to learn more about the atmosphere. A reading from Global Systems Science provides information regarding the composition of air. I created and included a Prezi containing information and a short video on each layer. The photograph in the header was taken by myself as I was returning to Greenville, SC. On the Air Mass and Front page there is a photograph I took of a front moving across the beach in New Smyrna, FL.
The ability to find resources and activities that have appropriate usage rights is essential to an online teacher. Knowing where to look and then how to cite the sources should serve as models for our students. It is important to use only sources we have permission to use, but it is just as important to cite the sources and give credit where it is due.
